a notorious criminal OR a gentle lover? [if only....]

I was browsing thru' this blog as usual n' to make sure that i didn't miss any new comments for each entry, i scrolled to the lowest portion of this blog..
There, i saw a section where i subscribed to the 'This Day in History' gadget as part of my blog..
If u r reading this on the same day i posted this entry, u'd probably have the chance to look at the John Dillinger in 'This Day in History'.

From the headline, 'John Dillinger Killed by FBI (1934)', i was curious abt what exactly had this man done that he was killed by the FBI. Was he wrongly killed? or had he committed some serious crime? Out of curiosity, i clicked on the link n' guess what? I spent almost 3 hours on the net, searching for information abt him, his past and his love relationships..
well, occasionally, my focus shifted to some other back-then famous criminals, but eventually my attention was still on this guy..and of cos his dramatic love story...

I googled his image n' came across many websites telling stories abt him..
he was a bank robber, robbed several banks, murdered several policemen while he was on pursuit, escaped from prison...all these seem so 'dramatic' to me..it's juz like what we always see on movies but that was a reality back then..

What attracted me wasn't the robbing and escaping part...
As i read on, i found that this man (a well-known robber), actually had a romantic yet sad love life..

He first married a girl named Beryl Hovious..
Not long after, he was imprisoned because he involved in a robbery..
His partner in crime (who had previous criminal records) was imprisoned for 2 years because he had money to hire a defense lawyer while poor John had to serve 10-15 years eventho' he had no criminal record..
His wife filed for a divorce and he was devastated..
(i think that was one reason why he decided to be a bad person and continued robbing when he was released on parole)

He met another woman by the name of Evelyn Frechette. Together, they went through lots of things. Evelyn went to jail because the police said she was harboring a criminal and was sentenced 2 years imprisonment. John wanted to save her but he couldn't.. (i m sure he didn't run away, he had some reasons..from some excerpts i have read, it said something like he could have die in the attempt of trying to save Eve...)

After that (probably years later), he went out with another woman with the name of Polly Hamilton. However, this relationship was briefer. Polly had a friend, whose name was Anna Sage..After a long story reading, I got to know that Anna actually tipped off the FBI when 3 of them went for a movie in some theater. John was shot on the back.

Of cos from what i've written here, perhaps most of u won't understand what exactly i m trying to express...well, i couldn't possible write all 3 hours of readings into this small section..

i've also read some excerpts from Evelyn Frechette and Polly Hamilton, describing their lives with John Dillinger. From there, John was described as a 'good man' in general...

if u have the time, read thru' n' u'll actually know that this 'notorious' criminal also had his gentle side, how he loved his lovers and how he showed his loving and gentle side to them...

What I wan to express is...love is such a great thing...n' even this so-called notorious bank robber had such an extraordinary love story behind...

i was truly astonished by his love story and respected him, not him as a robber but him as a good lover...i think true love doesn't really exist easily in today's world..yes, there might still be...but i m not really too sure..pessimistic? perhaps i've seen too much of the negative side..

i began to wonder, how could this notorious robber = a gentle lover?
it will remain as a mystery...a mystery that i would like to know...but would never find the answer...

at the end of the day, i conclude that he was juz a normal person, who wished people around him to show more love and understanding...
if he was given a lighter sentence since it was his first offense...
if his wife didn't file for divorce...
if evelyn hadn't left him...
if polly didn't introduce anna to him...
if anna didn't betray him for her own sake...

so many ifs...

if he, as a ruthless robber, had shown so much of his love to his loved ones? i don't understand why 'normal people' i've seen couldn't be bothered about showing and sharing some true love to other people..

there r too much mysteries within people..those ordinary pple whom others thought was extraordinary...
(for e.g MJ, who recently died. people juz wanna get something out of him. but he was juz an ordinary man, yearning for an ordinary life but all he faced was extraordinary treatment from other pple. all we've seen was his glamourous part, how many pple actually considered his tortured and exhausted inner self? at the end, he was a pitiful man but pple still wanna get something out of him...why? what's the purpose?)

there r juz too many stupid things goin around this world...

this world could b a better place, if only people show more true love and care..

[p/s: the movie 'Public Enemies' was filmed based on John Dillinger's story..I wonder how much of it is fact-based..if u r interested, u can watch the movie...altho' i quite idolize the persona, but I don't think i would wanna watch it bcos' he's gonna die at the end of the story (if according to the true story)...well, my frens always say i live in fairytale land...so i only accept happily-ever-after ending and yeah, i wish i do live in fairytale land..then i do not need to see this realistic world...sinking deeper and deeper..]
