Alonso to replace Raikkonen at Ferrari in 2010

Ferrari finally confirmed on Wednesday that Fernando Alonso will race for the team next season, replacing Kimi Raikkonen as Felipe Massa’s team mate. Giancarlo Fischella will continue in the role of reserve driver.

Alonso, who has spent the bulk of his Formula One career with Renault, has signed a three-year agreement with Ferrari, starting in 2010
.

Alonso made his Formula One debut in 2001 with Minardi, before becoming Renault’s official test driver the following season. In 2003 he was promoted to a race seat and became F1 racing’s youngest Grand Prix winner with victory. By the end of 2005 he was also its youngest champion.

He successfully defended his title in 2006, fending off a resurgent Michael Schumacher in the latter half of the season
, before taking his number one with him to McLaren for 2007, where he endured a tempestuous year alongside Lewis Hamilton.

Alonso returned to Renault for 2008, scoring two race wins, despite a less than competitive car. This season the team have been off the pace once more, with the
Spaniard taking just one podium to date, at the last round in Singapore.

Raikkonen has yet to confirm his plans for 2010.

Checking out my dear students....

Dear beloved students,

How has everyone been doing? Regarding my 5 assignments, I only managed to do 1 and that 1 also not 100% complete. LOL...

Anyway, this blog looks kinda quiet. Newbies don't be shy. This is supposedly a place for everyone to share thoughts.

How was the Hari Raya holiday for everyone? School has started after merely 2 days of holiday but for short semester's students, at least you've November & December to rest (if you're not doing the Co-Op).

Any progress for the term paper writing? I don't expect you to start writing but at least have an idea of which topic to do so for the coming weeks, things will fall into places easily.

After this holiday, the next resting time for me will be November when my finals are over. Then I'll be busy with YOUR final exams on December. Muahahahahaha......

By the way, all of you can post entry to this blog. Please don't let me do the talking all the time. If you do come across good articles or informative resourse, please feel free to blog it here so that everyone can give their feedback about it.

And, the comments that you people posted is very very very very funny. How come everyone must write 1, 2, 3 for each question that I asked? You don't need to answer in number form. You can answer like an essay or short paragraph. Don't be too rigid or feel scare about it. My purpose is to let my students have the freedom of speech. If you are too inflexible, it defeats my purpose of this blog.

Well, before I end this blog, I shall have a little interrogation.

1. What have you done during this Hari Raya holiday?

2. Any interesting things that you encountered or saw during the holiday?

3. Any particular things would you like to do in EF class when the lesson starts next week?

Alright, I shall sign off now. Will try to keep this blog updated but connection in JB is quite bad :)

See you :)

INSOMNIACS!!!!

Dear students,

Today was an exciting day because holiday is here!
But my holiday will be accompanied by 5 assignments!!
I hope I can finish them within a week's time then I can concentrate on my final exams which will start on 2nd November 2009.
Bet all of you didn't expect that your teacher's life here is also full of assignments! LOL
Now you know why I chose the article about insomnia to discuss.
But apparently, no one in the class has problems with sleeping. Only me, it seems.
Oooohh.....nightmare about assignments!!!!! >.<

Well, this week has been a pretty easy week. Not too much of drillings and not too much of theory.
We've come to an end of Parts of Speech and also Verbs & Tenses.
We've also covered a bit of Term Paper writing.
However, term paper is a longer term project. So basically, we'll do it in parts.
Please don't be worried about what and how to write because that's the purpose of having drafts.
For every draft you submit, I'll tell you whether you are on the right track or not. :)

I suppose many of you haven't think of a specific topic to do for your term paper.
You have a week to think before finalizing with me the week after holiday.
No abortion, no pollution, no child abuse, No AIDS.
Other than these topics, you are free to choose any social issues.

I'm pretty excited about this assignment, because some groups had really interesting ideas.
I'm looking forward for the presentation and I'm positive that everyone will do good.

EF seniors, maybe you can post some ideas and share with the current students.

Before we end this week, let's refresh on some things we've done in class.
1. Verbs & Tenses, are they clear? Work on the exercises and we'll discuss it when we're back on action.

2. Insomnia, anything that you wanna share about this topic? I think the article is pretty informative. Not too lengthy, a very good start for reading. :)

3. Term paper writing, just another writing assignment? maybe and maybe not. Think about how you can expand your creativity and thinking skills through this assignment. It'll help you to look at things from another perspectives.

Alrite, I shall end here.

HAPPY HOLIDAYS!! but do drop by when you are online. I might drop one or two entries here. Just to make sure you're constantly participating...teeeheee....

*TAKE CARE*

Bloggers needed URGENTLY!

To all my wonderful students,

I am currently working on a project which relates to blogging.
I would like to invite you to be part of my project.
All you need to do is to give me your blog address and I'll do the rest :)

If you are a blogger, who blogs frequently in English, listen here... I WANT YOU!
*LOL*

Hope to hear from you soon.

Thanks :)

Verbs & Tenses

Hi everyone,

I'm kinda excited because the Hari Raya holiday is coming soon.

That means I don't need to go to the office.

However, during this festive season, I need to work out 5 assignments for myself.

That's kinda horrible, isn't it?

But....I'll try my best and work hard to finish it.

I hope everyone will do the same and get a good result for EF.

For today, I've covered on the topic Verbs & Tenses and basically, they are really easy stuff.

Like what I've repeated and emphasized in the class, these are not hard at all. And I'm not really afraid of the students not understanding it but somehow, when students write essaBoldys, they tend to mix up the tenses. Despite that, I am sure everyone will do good for it.

For last discussion, not many people posted their thoughts but it'll be really good if everyone tries to give some feedback to it, as a way to refresh your mind about what was being taught in class and also some kind of fast revision you do it through online.

Before we go into the next topic, please let me know your thoughts about these questions.

1. What are verbs & tenses to you?

2. Why do you think they are important in writing?

3. By now, can you differentiate all types of tenses?

Thanks for the "correction".

This entry is specially in respond to the comment that was posted by one of the EF students but I'm not sure who was that.

In my previous entry, first paragraph line 5, I wrote

"You must thanking God that you don't need to see Ms. Monster...haha..."

and that was supposedly a typo error.

What I really meant was...

"You must BE thanking God that you don't need to see Ms. Monster...haha..."

Thanks to this very intelligent student, he / she managed to spot the error and posted a very valuable feedback as follows.

OMG!
You must thanking God or must thank!

end of Week 2 :)

Woohoo...

Weekends are coming so I'm pretty excited :)
I suppose everyone is excited as well...but next week will be even more exciting since we are gonna have more holidays...and plus my class cancellation, so everyone has a week off for EF.
You must BE thanking God that you don't need to see Ms. Monster...haha...

This week the EF classes managed to finish the Parts of Speech and continued moving on the Verbs & Tenses. In the next week, we'll discuss in detail about Tenses (past, present & future) but those are all easy stuff. So, there's nothing to worry about :)

Today, Soroush (an EF3 student) shared about Backgammon (a game) and I really had fun watching my students playing the game. The rules were a bit complicated but 2 students managed to try their hands on this game. I think it's pretty cool because this game requires a lot of thinking skills and I think it really helps our brain to work-out..

Anyway, before ending this week, I would like to recap on things that we've done for this week as well as the previous week. Please ponder on some questions below and let me know your thoughts :)

1. What are parts of speech to you?
2. What do you understand about parts of speech?
3. In your opinion, are they important? Why?
4. How about verbs & tenses? Passive, active, singular, plural - are they driving you crazy as well?

Feel free to also post about your thoughts about this week's class. How was the lecture and also the activity? What other things or improvements would you like to see in the class?

p/s: my beloved babies are also welcomed to join in this discussion. since you learnt all these, i suppose you haven't "return" all the knowledge to me...LOL

*have a good weekend :)*

A Welcome Note for Sept-Dec 2009 EF Students

Dear newcomers,

Welcome to creativethinkers@work!

This blog is specially created for all the students who are attending English Foundation (EF) with me.

The reason I set up this blog is to encourage to "speak out". In my teaching years, I've encountered many students who are quiet in class. Maybe they are shy. Through this blog, I hope that all students are able to share ideas, express their thoughts as well as to get to know their peers in the EF classes. You might not share the same group, but through here, everyone is a part of the big EF family.

The first main purpose of this blog is to get everyone together and have fun! Not forgetting the serious stuff, we'll also be having more discussions, doing revision for test, mid term & assignment. From time to time, I'll post classroom announcements here for in-class and out-of-classroom activities.

You'll also find your "seniors" (former students of EF) here. I hope by having to know more friends in college, your college life will be more wonderful and of course, each of you can help to "look out" for each other. (For e.g, you have problems with some subjects which some of the other students have taken, they may be able to offer help to you.) Doesn't that just sound nice?

I love interacting with people and I hope by the end of semester (or at least through this blog), you are able to know each other well, whether or not you are from the same or different group, same or different semester.

Making new friends and sharing new experience are part of college life. Therefore, make your college life interesting and don't follow to the traditional "in-the-classroom" teaching and learning styles.

For this semester, participation in this blog will be part of your classroom assessment. Your participation will help you to earn 5% of the total marks in EF.

For your information, I'll be making all the EF students to be the author of this blog. I hope I won't be the only one who posts the entries. Please post some discussions here, and the others will join in the talk by giving feedbacks.

To newcomers: HAVE FUN BlOGGING!

To former students: Babies, stay put in this blog! Don't you dare to abandon this site!! Continue to show support by posting discussions, organizing outings and crazy-ing together!!!

i wonder why some people's mouth just can't shut?

i think being a teacher is really an amusing job because i face with different students everyday.
and, faces change every semesters as well.
plus the fact that in our school, we have students from 'various' countries, that is really quite a challenge.

to understand people from the same culture might already be difficult, what's more people from different background, different thoughts and different culture? i suppose that's really a big challenge.

i was actually quite looking forward to this semester since i love meeting new people, but the only part which i HATE is to listen to new craps.

before i start my story, i have to declare that i'm not biased, i'm not being discriminate and i'm definitely not angry. (angry is a waste of energy to those brainless homosapiens). and i'm referring to NOT just to a particular group of people, but to 'various groups' of people..

i just feel it is very ridiculous because there are humans who talk in such a way. and those humans which i refer to are those who haven't even enter the workforce to feel the cruelness of the society and yet they are already cleverly labeling other people.

wow...how come they are not good at labeling their own assignments & examinations? i think they should put more attention to their work rather to talk empty, because i really loathe and look down on such people..seriously disgusted!

the first thing i want to declare:
I DID NOT SAY I AM THE BEST TEACHER ON EARTH

well, everyone is trying to be the best but of course as they saying goes, there is always a mountain higher. so look, no one is the best. but everyone is trying to achieve the best. look carefully at the word: "trying". what is the best? how do you define the best? it's very subjective.

i feel very amused when students told me that prior entering my class, they would hear their friends saying that "Ms. Jenny is a very strict teacher, you go to her class, you'll die." Now, a question, how many of my students have died? 10? 35? 79?

First they said i'm strict and it's very hard to pass my class. Now they said i'm very lenient because many of my students got As. hmmm....so which is really the true Ms. Jenny? i'm wondering... WHAT EXACTLY DO YOU PEOPLE WANT???!?!?!!?!?

i always believe that teaching & learning is a process where people need to experience things...yes, i don't give tips to people. so what? if you really need tips so much and only then you are to pass a subject, seriously, can I laugh at you? because that excuse is so lame that i almost died laughing. so go straight to the one you think you can gain more..i didn't say i'm the best but i'm giving my best to my students. if you think you prefer the other, it's okay. it's better for me to have less students because I would rather to have long-term close relationship with fewer students rather to have a large group of problematic students who don't even care whether i'm alive or dead, isn't it?

the second thing i want to declare:
NOT EVERYONE LEARNS WITH THE SAME STRATEGY

well, in this case, i would say, different people learn better with different strategy. this is a recent conversation i had with a student (i don't want to mention name or which 'group' of people he/she is from)..this student was asking about my qualification. so i said i'm currently on masters level. and this actually quite shocked the student because the student assumed that i can't teach well. i mean, how do you define teaching well? different teachers have different styles and these styles work differently with different people.

for e.g, i have 170 students last semester, some students who worked well with my styles, they achieved higher grade and some who didn't, they did badly. so it all depends. how can you judge a person even without knowing a person's background? and anyway, whether am i a masters or phd holder has nothing to do with my classes. do you think those parts of speech and phrases & clauses has anything to do with my masters in any way? and the funny part it, that student actually told me that i should entertain them because they are foreign in this country (alrite, mayb now you can guess who!) oh...am i from the ministry of tourism? what has you coming from another country has to do with me? my job is to teach, not to entertain. you think i'm from circus? and then you asked me "whether i'm sad over what you said". hello, why should i be SAD? can you at least different the differences between sad, upset, angry, irritated and disgusted before you start saying anything? or at least get your adjectives correct. so start browsing thru' your parts of speech before talking to me, okay?

to cut my story short, i really feel irritated with this kind of people.
my advice:
1. think before you say anything because i seriously hate dealing with brainless people.
2. do not judge people even before knowing them because what makes you so good in the first place anyway?

like what i said before, if you really think you are doing crap in the english classes, you better get your crap right before starting to crap because in the end, you wouldn't want people to see you being more worthless than a piece of crap. do u hear me?

to my beloved babies, do you agree with mummy? ;)

pls feel free to comment because i seriously need feedback about this matter.

touching...

A Son asked his father, "Dad, will you take part in a marathon with me?"
The father who, despite having a heart condition, says "Yes".
They went on to complete the marathon together.

Father and son went on to join other marathons.
The father always saying "Yes" to his son's request of going through the race together.

One day, the son asked his fater, "Dad, let's join the Ironman together."

To which, his father said "Yes".

For those who don't know, Ironman is the toughest triathlon ever. The race encompasses three endurance events of a 2.4 mile (3.86 kilometer) ocean swim, followed by a 112 mile (180.2 kilometer) bike ride and ending with a 26.2 mile (42.195 kilometer) marathon along the coast of the Big Island.

Father and son went on to complete the race together!
